Ensure Public Safety

Public safety is the foundation of a strong community. I will work to ensure that violent and repeat offenders are held fully accountable, while also supporting smart, data-driven strategies that prevent crime before it happens. Victims and their families deserve to be heard, respected, and kept informed at every step of the process, and I will prioritize their safety and dignity in every decision. By partnering with law enforcement, community organizations, and service providers, we can create safer neighborhoods and a justice system that truly protects the public.

Reduce Court Backlog

Our courts are overwhelmed, and that hurts everyone—victims waiting for closure, families seeking answers, and defendants trying to move forward with their lives. I will focus on reducing the court backlog by improving case management, expanding the effective use of technology, and encouraging timely resolution of cases when appropriate. That means working closely with attorneys, court staff, and stakeholders to streamline processes, cut down on unnecessary delays, and keep cases moving efficiently. When the courts run smoothly, justice is faster, fairer, and more accessible to all.

 Create a Youthful Offenders Court

Young people who enter the justice system should be held accountable—but they also deserve a real chance to change course. I will champion the creation of a Youthful Offenders Court focused on rehabilitation, education, and mental health support for eligible young adults. This court would emphasize tailored interventions like counseling, job training, mentorship, and treatment programs rather than relying solely on incarceration. By addressing the root causes of criminal behavior and giving young people the tools to succeed, we can reduce repeat offenses, strengthen families, and build a safer future for our community.
